Centre-GPMI has officially launched as a Nigerian nonprofit dedicated to advancing genomics, precision medicine, and biomedical research across Nigeria and Africa. Headquartered in Jos, Plateau State, the Centre is now fully registered and operational, with its core governance and institutional infrastructure in place. Under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Yohanna Musa Usman, the Centre's inaugural initiatives include a genomic literacy awareness campaign and a sickle cell disease screening and referral programme.
Centre-GPMI has announced plans to launch its first public programme: the Genomic Literacy and Precision Medicine Awareness Campaign, a community-focused initiative designed to build public understanding of genomics and its relevance to everyday health. The campaign will use community engagement and local partnerships to demystify genomic science ahead of a planned sickle cell disease screening and referral programme later this year.
